About this Product
The Serra de Mantiqueira is a mountain range that stretches across the states of Sao Paolo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. Located in Minas Gerais. the Mantiqueira de Minas area was the first to get a geographical indication in the Brazilian coffee industry. This approach, akin to ‘terroir’ in the wine industry has redefined how people view speciality coffee from Brazil. Mantiqueira has a reputation for growing Yellow beans and the epitome of this is the Yellow Bourbon which is grown much higher than their other varietals at altitudes of 1000-1400 MASL. A number of farms that contribute to this regional blend have won the Cup of Excellence and this is certainly evident in the taste. Notes of caramel and chocolate are followed by a hint of lime and peach on the finish. Suitable for all brewing methods and is equally good with milk or on it’s own.
Winner of a 3 Star Great Taste Award in 2026, the judges said: “The bean offers cinder toffee, caramel notes on the nose which are softened in the grind. The drink itself is mellow and offers a rewarding complexity. On the nose, when brewed, the coffee offers a warming tinned peach aroma. Citrus notes are pleasingly present with lime notes muted. This is a well-balanced drink, with flavour notes working in harmony to deliver a soft complexity and flavoursome caramel finish. The aroma on the beans presents a slightly aggressive sweet, burnt caramel with a smoother rounding of chocolate. On the palate, these elements and flavours are further refined and join together with the brighter fruity traces. But this clever, well-crafted coffee is so much more about balance and restraint; there are no bullying flavours, this is a coffee with a smile on its face that gives you a hug.”
