About this Product
Grown in the fertile highlands of Burundi, this exceptional washed coffee is produced through the Akawa Project, an initiative dedicated to creating sustainable and equitable coffee supply chains for local farming communities.
Cultivated between 1,100 and 1,700 metres above sea level, the coffee benefits from rich volcanic soils and ideal growing conditions. Bourbon and local heirloom varieties thrive in this environment, producing a cup celebrated for its clarity, sweetness, and complexity.
The Akawa Project works closely with eleven carefully selected washing stations, supporting farmers through fair pricing, pre-harvest financing, and training in sustainable agricultural practices. By guaranteeing stable prices and prompt payment for coffee cherries, the project helps create long-term economic security for producers and their families.
Processed using the traditional washed method, this coffee showcases the vibrant character of Burundi's renowned coffee-growing regions. The result is a clean, balanced cup with refined acidity, delicate fruit notes, and a smooth, elegant finish.
At Terrone & Co, we're proud to source coffees that not only deliver exceptional flavour but also support the people and communities behind every harvest.
