Coffee Bags

We’ve had lots of requests over time for a convenient way to enjoy our freshly roasted coffees without needing a cafetière or other brewing equipment. We’re delighted to say they’re finally here!

Our new Coffee Bags offer all the flavour and quality you expect from Northern Tea Merchants, with the simplicity of brewing a cup of tea.

Now you can simply place a coffee bag into your favourite mug, add freshly boiled water, leave to brew for 3-4 minutes, gently stir or squeeze the bag to your preferred strength, then remove and enjoy.

They’re ideal for those moments when you want a proper cup of coffee but haven’t got the time, or simply can’t be bothered getting the cafetière out or firing up the coffee machine. They’re also perfect for taking on holiday, camping, caravanning, keeping in the office, or simply enjoying at home when time is lacking.

To begin with, we’re introducing them with our two most popular filter coffees; Mountain Blend and Colombian Medellin Excelso.

Each pack contains 10 coffee bags, each containing 10 grammes of finely ground high quality coffee, making them easy to keep fresh and even easier to take wherever life takes you.

I was very pleased to see when trialling the bags the light brown foam that built up inside the bag (which is cafeol, the naturally occurring oil within coffee) and which gives he finished brew a lovely flavour.

These coffee bags are fully biodegradable with the materials certified to EN13432 composting standards, with recommended disposal via your food waste stream where available.
