About the region
The excellent Medellin Excelso used in our Colombian Supremo is grown in rich volcanic soil for a smooth, medium strength coffee that reveals lovely, well balanced and nutty flavours and plenty of heavy body, making it equally ideal for filter coffees and cafetieres.
Coffee was likely first introduced to Colombia in 1723, slowly spreading as a commercial crop to various regions of the country and becoming a significant product for the country by the end of the 19th century. By 1912, coffee accounted for around 50% of Colombia’s total exports.
