Gisheke (Rwanda, Natural)
About this Product
We are no strangers to Gisheke, having been enjoying it every year for the past 5. Natural Rwandans offer a wonderful body, smoothness and rich fruit. It always translates well across brew methods whether that is a jammy espresso or a light filter packed with red fruits and dates.
Gisheke washing station is located in Nyamsheke District and overlooks Lake Kivu. Gisheke is only accessible by water and 40% of the cherries they receive comes by boat from Mushungwe Island.
It’s situated in between two steep hills making it an ideal spot for processing and drying natural lots as the wind passes evenly and consistently through the valley.
The station is operated by Muharo Trading Company which purchased the station in 2017. They had to undertake major works to renovate it in 2018, and since transformed it into an excellent facility for processing high quality specialty.
This natural lot is tasting like Wild strawberry, Green apple with a Jam like finish.
