Context
The Nola Wonga farmers group was created in 2014 by Felix Soba to preserve the cultivation of its renowned organic Arabica coffee from Bajawa, on the island of Flores in East Nusa Tenggaru. Some farmers had converted their plants to short term vegetable crops, which were seen as more profitable, leading to a shrinking of the coffee plantation area. Mr Soba acts as a patron to the farmers of Nola Wonga as well as other farmers groups, providing financial support , distributing free seedlings and teaching them how to continue growing coffee alongside horticultural crops, rather than as a replacement.
These beans were grown by the Nola Wonga farmers at between 1,300 and 1,600 masl before being washed to give a flavour-filled coffee.
