Monsooned Malabar AA - Dark Roast

Low-acidity, full-bodied Indian coffee: Monsoon Malabar AA Dark Roast has a distinctive earthy character, heavy body and smooth texture, with notes of dark chocolate, nuts and spice. The traditional monsooning process gives this coffee its unusually mellow acidity. It is especially suited to espresso and stovetop or moka pot brewing.

What Makes Monsooned Malabar Coffee Unique?

Monsooned Malabar is one of the world’s most distinctive coffees. After harvesting, the green coffee beans are exposed to humid monsoon winds along India’s Malabar Coast for several weeks, causing the beans to swell, soften and develop their signature low-acidity profile.

This traditional monsooning process creates a coffee with heavy body, earthy depth and smooth texture, often showing notes of spice, dark chocolate, tobacco, nuts and wood. Its unusually mellow acidity makes Monsooned Malabar especially popular with espresso drinkers and those who prefer fuller-bodied coffees.

Who Will Enjoy Monsooned Malabar?

Monsooned Malabar is ideal for coffee drinkers who prefer low acidity, fuller body and earthy flavour profiles over brighter fruit-led coffees. It is especially popular among espresso drinkers, dark roast enthusiasts and customers looking for smooth coffee with minimal bitterness.

Traditional Monsooning Process

During the monsooning process, coffee beans are stored in open-sided warehouses along India’s Malabar Coast and exposed to seasonal monsoon winds and humidity. This traditional method changes both the physical appearance and flavour profile of the coffee, creating its distinctive smoothness, low acidity and earthy depth.
