About this Product
About Pa'O Villages
A fully washed lot from our friends at Behind The Leaf Coffee. Co-Founded by Melanie Edwards, Behind The Leaf has been one of the few success stories to emerge from Myanmar. Their work with the local Pa'O people in the Shan State of Myanmar, especially the women from the local village of Ta Ngo in the Pinalung Township, has meant that the fruits of their labour are now classed as speciality grade coffee, something almost unthinkable a few years ago.
Behind The Leaf (BTL), a remarkable micro-mill in Myanmar's Shan State, stands as a shining example of how women are cultivating exceptional coffee while brewing lasting change within their community.
These resilient women, including single mothers and widows, have transformed significant challenges into opportunities for growth. Through BTL's empowering initiatives, they've secured stable income, developed valuable skills, and built a supportive network that strengthens both their families and their futures.
From coffee farm managers and roasters to bookkeepers and quality control supervisors, the women of BTL have established themselves as leaders in every aspect of coffee production. Their journey from facing economic hardship to achieving financial independence showcases the transformative power of opportunity and community support.
By partnering with BTL, we're proud to support these remarkable women as they continue to shape the future of specialty coffee in Myanmar while building better lives for themselves and their families.

Quick response & delicious beans!
Quick response and service, and lovely packaging of my coffee beans! The beans themselves (Daterra Laurina & Aramosa) I was trying as they'e naturally low in caffeine, to supplement my usual caffeine-fix beans. Absolutely delicious and worth the extra £ - recommended.
