Supernova - Natural Colombia Decaf

Supernova is what happens when all that energy can no longer be contained.

Pressure builds. Heat rises. Then, suddenly, everything erupts into light.

This is where the Nott Coffee range really starts to stretch its legs. Supernova is a natural process Colombia, decaffeinated using the sugarcane process, with bags of fruit, sweetness and character.

Expect dried fruit, orange and hazelnut, with a medium body, balanced acidity and the deeper, more expressive flavours that come from natural processing.

Supernova exists for people who want their decaf to be exciting.

It's not merely "good for decaf." It's good. Full stop. Supernova isn't a compromise, it's a genuinely interesting speciality coffee with provenance, process and personality. It just happens to be decaf. 

Working with social enterprise importer Raw Material, we selected this coffee from producers in the Villamaría Red Association in Caldas, Colombia.

The coffee is a selection of Castillo, Colombia and Caturra varieties, grown high in the mountains at around 1,800 metres above sea level.

After harvesting, the coffee cherries are carefully sorted and allowed an extended fermentation before being slowly dried at the Jamaica processing station. That natural process concentrates sweetness and fruit, giving Supernova a bigger, more expressive character than the cleaner washed coffees in the range.

Only then is the caffeine removed using the Colombian sugarcane process, preserving as much of that sweetness, acidity and flavour as possible.

It is fruity, fragrant and full of life. A decaf for people who still want to discover things in their coffee, even when they have decided they have had quite enough caffeine for one day.

Pour it carefully.

Give it a moment.
