About this Product
Working with James from Omwani Coffee Co., we have been working with this Microlot coffee from the Kalingwe region (a delightful Natural) in the Rewezori mountains in Uganda for 6 years now and pleased to say we have the very latest crop of 2026 season new in stock. The name ‘Bukonzo Dream’ originates from the Bukonzo tribes-people of Uganda. They are friendly and welcoming people who dream of being able to provide better opportunities for each generation. The small-holder farmers (led by Mbusa Julius) have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and given the opportunity of producing a harvest which will give them a greater yield and ultimately a better return, they are willing to go extra lengths to ensure a fantastic crop.
Still exclusive to SR in the Manchester region, this is still the most interesting coffee we’ve cupped in a long time! From a technical stand-point too, it is close to being the perfect coffee. Uganda is no longer the ‘poorer coffee neighbour’ of Keyna, as the country seeks to expand its forays into the speciality market. Think peaches and cream; strawberries and tonnes of tropical fruits.. a strong bodied coffee on espresso and with a boozy feel to the cup on filter!
Process: By collecting the cherry rather than as processed green bean, the value added to their coffee is huge, and it shows! It also adds incentive to the farmers when picking and selecting ripe coffees as they can achieve higher prices – an important part of the Salford Roasters story.
