About this Product
The coffee
Ripe coffee cherries are carefully hand-picked by farming families before being delivered to nearby washing stations.
The coffee undergoes a 24-hour dry fermentation, followed by traditional wet processing and a further 24-hour soak. After washing and grading, the beans are dried slowly on raised beds. This careful process develops the coffee’s clarity, sweetness and layered flavour.
In the cup, expect a bright and elegant coffee with festive notes of orange, peach and tea rose. It is delicious brewed as either filter or espresso.
The producers
The Cooperative Coffee Rusiga Sector brings together smallholder farmers from the high-altitude hills of Rulindo, Rwanda, with many farms sitting above 2,000 metres.
Founded by women producers and supported through the Kinini network, the cooperative is organised into twelve village-based groups. This structure helps farmers access training, agronomy support and shared resources while retaining leadership and ownership within their communities.
Coffee is commonly grown alongside beans, legumes and sweet potatoes, supporting household nutrition, farm resilience and local biodiversity.
