We're so pleased to be able to build on our relationship with Ephtah, the producers of Halo Beriti, with the addition of this delicious washed lot from the farmers of the Gotiti kebele in Gedeb.
Grown on surrounding farms between 2100 and 2170 metres above sea level, coffee cherries are sold locally before being processed by Ephtah Coffee at their 2.5Ha wet mill. Once sorted and floated, the coffees undergo a fully washed process before being sun dried on raised beds for 12-15 days.
The whole process is overseen by Eyasu Lole, who employs 7 permanent staff and 15 temporary workers during the busy harvest period between October and January.
As well as purchasing coffees, Ephtah provide a range of additional support to producers, including training in agronomy and risk management.
They also dedicate resources to empowering female producers through their Ama Commitment, providing pre-financing and tailored training schemes with a view to fostering leadership and economic independence for women in the area.
This washed community lot is bright, juicy and brimming with tea like florals; a shining example of a classic washed Ethiopian coffee.
