More Information
Gayo Linge Antara Producer Cooperative was established in 2018 by 21 founders with extensive experience in the coffee sector, and has since grown into a strong farmer-based organization with 984 members spread across 14 villages in Central Aceh and Bener Meriah Regencies, Aceh Province, Indonesia. Together, the cooperative exports approximately 45 containers coffee annually, demonstrating both production capacity and consistent market engagement. This particular lot represents the work of 200 contributing farmers, each managing an average farm size of one hectare with an average yield of 846 kilograms of coffee.
Coffee cultivation within the cooperative follows carefully implemented agronomic practices designed to balance productivity, environmental stewardship, and quality improvement. Farmers apply Good Agricultural Practices that address appropriate growing conditions, land and ecosystem management, and the selection of suitable varieties. While the cooperative does not yet hold formal certifications, it is currently undergoing Organic and Fairtrade certification processes and is dedicated to growing their coffee following organic practices.
Shade management plays an important role, with lamtoro trees planted as effective and efficient shade trees that help regulate microclimate, support soil health, and enhance overall farm productivity. Organic inputs are prioritized, including compost derived from coffee pulp, livestock manure, and green manure, reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers and reinforcing soil fertility over time.
Beyond production, the cooperative emphasizes social responsibility, farmer welfare, and long-term sustainability. It operates several priority social initiatives, including regular education and training programs that cover seed selection, environmentally friendly land management, and post-harvest handling techniques to enhance both yield and quality. A portion of profits from cooperative coffee sales is reinvested to strengthen farmer capacity, promote environmental conservation, and improve overall community welfare. Financially, the cooperative offers pre-financing options that allow farmers
receive payment through a Cash on Delivery system, providing liquidity at the point of sale.
