Uganda coffee

196 Uganda coffees from 118 independent UK roasters, from £3.42.

Uganda is one of Africa’s largest coffee producers and an increasingly interesting speciality origin. It grows both hardy Robusta (some of it indigenous to the region) and, at altitude on the slopes of Mount Elgon and the Rwenzoris, sweet washed and natural Arabica. The Arabicas can be lovely — chocolate, red berry and a mild, rounded acidity that sits between Latin American comfort and East African brightness. Ugandan Robusta, meanwhile, is prized for espresso blends that need body and crema. For UK buyers it is a chance to explore a less-hyped African origin at sensible prices, and to taste high-quality Robusta done deliberately rather than as filler.
