Tanzania coffee
71 Tanzania coffees from 48 independent UK roasters, from £3.13.
Tanzania sits geographically and often flavourfully between Kenya and the rest of East Africa. Grown on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, Mbeya and around Lake Tanganyika, its washed Arabicas are bright and clean — blackcurrant, citrus, stone fruit and a lively acidity that echoes Kenya without quite the same savoury intensity. Peaberry lots (naturally rounded single beans) are a Tanzanian speciality and often sold separately. There is also excellent natural-process fruit-bomb coffee emerging. Brewed as filter it shows off that juicy acidity; it also makes a vibrant espresso. If you like Kenyan coffee but want something a little softer and often better value, Tanzania is a natural, rewarding alternative.
