Zambia coffee

12 Zambia coffees from 9 independent UK roasters, from £3.80.

Zambia is a small, little-known African origin that produces surprisingly refined coffee. Grown chiefly on a handful of larger, well-run estates in the north of the country at good altitude, Zambian coffee is clean, bright and balanced — orange, red fruit, florals and a lively but approachable acidity that recalls its East African neighbours. Because production is concentrated and quality-focused, traceability is often excellent, right down to the estate and variety. Volumes reaching the UK are modest, so it tends to appear as a limited single-origin release. For drinkers who enjoy bright, fruity African coffees and like exploring beyond Kenya and Ethiopia, Zambia is a rewarding and under-the-radar choice.
